LAND SURVEYOR – ENVIRONMENT

Location - ANNESLEY

Galliford Try is seeking a highly skilled Land Surveyor to join our Environment Business Unit. Based in Annesley, this role involves frequent travel to active sites across the region. Candidates should ideally reside within commuting distance of Nottinghamshire.

This is a technically demanding role suited to a surveyor with strong field experience and proficiency in geospatial data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation in support of infrastructure and environmental engineering projects. As a Land Surveyor, you will deliver accurate geospatial data to support planning, design, and construction operations across a range of environmental infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for undertaking topographical, boundary, and utility surveys using industry-standard and advanced instrumentation and software.

What you will be doing:

1. Execute detailed topographical and utility surveys using GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, D laser scanners, and ground-based radar systems.
2. Employ Electromagnetic Locating (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) techniques in line with PAS standards for underground utility mapping.
3. Import, process, and analyse survey datasets using AutoCAD Civil D, Trimble Business Center, Nce, LSS, or equivalent survey and GIS platforms.
4. Produce deliverables including D and D CAD drawings, digital terrain models (DTMs), as-built records, and GIS layers with a high degree of spatial accuracy.
5. Validate site control networks, establish primary and secondary control points, and perform precise levelling.
6. Review engineering drawings, land records, and legal boundary documentation to support positional accuracy and project alignment.
7. Prepare detailed survey reports, method statements, and risk assessments in compliance with HSE regulations and CDM standards.
8. Maintain calibration and verification logs for all survey instrumentation, ensuring compliance with QA/QC procedures.
9. Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and construction personnel to validate geospatial data and resolve discrepancies.
10. Mentor and support junior surveyors, promoting knowledge transfer and technical consistency across the survey function.
11. Adhere to and promote Galliford Try's health, safety, environmental, and quality policies across all survey operations.

19. Proficient in utility survey methods including Electromagnetic Location (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
20. Familiarity with PAS methodology and utility mapping standards.
21. Competent in the use of GNSS and total station surveying techniques.
22. Experience with CAD and/or GIS software for producing utility drawings.
23. Relevant industry certifications (, QCF Level in Utility Mapping, EUSR).
24. CSCS card appropriate for role.
25. Full UK driving licence.
