Job Overview
Gatwick IRC is a detention centre based on the grounds of Gatwick Airport. The role will be to support the wider healthcare team as a Healthcare Assistant within the Substance Misuse Team. Hours: 15 hours per week (2 days a week, any two days from Monday to Friday).
Responsibilities
* Work with other members of the team to assess patients’ needs and risks.
* Provide evidence-based care to a caseload of psychosocial patients, listening to their feedback to deliver personalised care.
* Deliver a programme of psychosocial interventions and give information on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood‑borne viruses and safe sex practices.
* Provide non‑judgemental one‑to‑one care and group support, working alongside nursing, pharmacy and other primary care teams.
* Apply the bespoke HiJ competency framework, following policies, procedures and safeguarding principles.

Qualifications
* Evidence of CPD.
* Relevant degree, qualification or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and experience providing structured psychosocial interventions.
* Experience working within a substance misuse multidisciplinary framework, including housing, social care, healthcare and mental health pathways.
* A non‑judgemental, compassionate approach.

Salary
This part‑time position offers an annual salary up to £29,000 per annum FTE, pro‑rated for the 15 hours per week.
