About Us: T he National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) is the UK’s national laboratory dedicated to accelerating the development and adoption of quantum computing. Headquartered at the Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire, the NQCC works across government, industry, and academia to address the engineering challenges of scaling quantum computers and to build a quantum-ready economy. Its mission is to enable the UK to solve complex societal and industrial challenges by harnessing the transformative potential of quantum computing. The NQCC is a joint initiative of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). It sits alongside other departments within the STFC National Laboratories and is part of the wider National Quantum Technologies Programme (NQTP). About the Role: We are looking for a Governance and Reporting Officer who can assist the NQCC’s Programme Manager with governance, assurance, reporting, and other programme-related activities. You will also be working closely with other members of the Programme Delivery team, and more widely with scientists, engineers, developers and experts in quantum technologies, to enhance the UK's quantum computing capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Supporting different aspects of the NQCC’s governance structure by assuring the smooth logistical and administrative management of meetings, and building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Supporting the monitoring of progress on NQCC’s objectives. Ensuring that relevant data is regularly collected across all teams and escalating issues where necessary. Improving how this is visualised in reports for a variety of stakeholders. Supporting the management of NQCC’s risks and issues, from data collection to reporting. Helping to prepare for assurance reviews and helping ensure compliance to relevant STFC and UKRI processes. Administering and improving the Knowledge Information Management (KIM) function or the Programme Delivery team and for projects managed by the Programme Delivery team. Providing support to other members and areas of the Programme Delivery team in role-adjacent areas. This recruitment will follow a multi-stage process. Applicants will be scored at shortlisting against the criteria using information provided in the CV and cover letter. Successful candidates will be invited to a 15-minute phone call with the hiring manager. The top performing candidates will then be invited to a 75-minute interview, which includes a 10-minute presentation. Person Specification: This role does not require a background or previous experience in quantum computing or physics. The following essential criteria will be assessed at shortlisting (S) and/or interview (I). Essential: A genuine interest and enthusiasm for the NQCC and its mission to deliver quantum computing capabilities for the UK. (S/I) Substantial experience in supporting decision makers and aspects of programme management including governance, assurance, reporting and monitoring of programme objectives. (S/I) Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to present complex and/or technical information accurately and concisely, and the ability to adapt communication style for different audiences. (S/I) The ability to build strong relationships and ability to influence colleagues and external stakeholders, from a wide range of backgrounds. (S/I) Effective organisation skills, including meeting logistics, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise conflicting demands. (S/I) A proactive attitude to problem solving. (S/I) Desirable: Significant experience working with varied and complex data, from collection to reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement.
