Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Grounds Manager to oversee the maintenance and development of our outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in landscape maintenance and grounds keeping, demonstrating both mechanical knowledge and proficiency with various tools. This role is essential for ensuring that our grounds are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and well-maintained.
Duties
* Manage and coordinate all aspects of landscape maintenance, including planting, pruning, and irrigation systems.
* Supervise a team of groundskeepers, providing training and guidance on best practices in garden care and maintenance.
* Plan and implement landscaping projects, including the design and construction of new garden areas.
* Utilise power tools and hand tools effectively for various tasks such as digging, building, and maintaining garden features.
* Conduct regular inspections of the grounds to identify areas needing attention or improvement.
* Maintain equipment in good working order through routine checks and repairs as necessary.
* Develop an irrigation schedule to ensure optimal watering of plants and lawns.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure that outdoor spaces meet safety standards and enhance the overall environment.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in landscape maintenance or grounds keeping is essential.
* Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate power tools and hand tools safely.
* Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail in maintaining outdoor spaces.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating leadership qualities when supervising staff.
* Physical stamina to perform manual labour, including lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods.
* A passion for gardening and an understanding of plant care principles will be advantageous.
* End to end management of recruitment.
* To manage all fleet requirements within the team.
* Ensuring all personnel are fully trained and competent to deliver the scope of works they are assigned for, updating training files/records as required by Sodexo policy and client mandated training requirements.
* Drive and hold self and individuals accountable for safety priorities creating a zero-harm culture.
* To embed Employee Valuation Program (EVP); develop the team by leading timely PDRS and capture any development opportunities, whilst ensuring you empower team members to own their performance and feel a sense of belonging.
* To manage HR related issues such as, conduct, investigation/grievances, absence management
