Job Title:Practice Assurance Lead
Location:Wandsworth
Salary: £58,893 per annum
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the role:

The Practice Assurance Lead is responsible for ensuring that social work practice within the organisation is of the highest quality, consistently meeting regulatory standards and best practice guidelines. The role will involve monitoring, auditing, and reviewing social work practice to provide assurance that services delivered to children, families, and vulnerable adults are safe, effective, and in line with the expectations of the regulatory bodies.

This position will involve leadership and oversight of practice assurance processes, as well as providing guidance, support, and training to social workers and other relevant staff to ensure compliance with quality standards. You will work closely with operational managers and senior leaders to implement improvements based on audit findings, regulatory requirements, and evolving best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the implementation of practice assurance and quality improvement frameworks across the social work service, ensuring adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Undertake regular audits of case files and social work practice, ensuring compliance with local authority procedures, legislation, and professional standards.
* Identify areas of good practice and areas for improvement, making recommendations for changes or interventions to drive quality improvements.
* Work closely with managers and teams to implement quality assurance processes and support improvements in practice across the service.
* Lead investigations into practice concerns and provide expert guidance on how to address these issues in line with safeguarding protocols and professional standards
* Provide expert advice and support to social work teams, including offering guidance on case management and best practice.
* Act as a subject matter expert in practice assurance, delivering training and support to social workers and managers to enhance practice standards.
* Provide coaching and mentoring to staff, including newly qualified social workers (NQSWs), to ensure continuous development and the application of high-quality practice standards.
* Support teams in embedding reflective practice, encouraging professional development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Ensure compliance with key regulatory standards, including those set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Social Work England, and other relevant professional bodies.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory and policy developments in social work practice, ensuring that practice meets the requirements of current legislation.
* Lead on preparing and presenting reports on practice assurance, audit findings, and quality improvement initiatives for senior leadership, commissioners, and regulatory bodies.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to social work practice quality, using data to inform improvements.

Requirements of the Practice Assurance Lead:

* Qualification: A degree or diploma in Social Work, with current registration with Social Work England.
* Post-qualification training in quality assurance, audit processes, or practice development (desirable).
* Significant experience as a qualified social worker, with a background in practice assurance, quality assurance, or social work supervision.
* Experience in conducting audits, quality reviews, and evaluations of social work practice and service delivery.
* Strong experience in working with children and families or vulnerable adults, with in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Care Act 2014, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
* Experience in training, mentoring, and supporting social work teams, particularly in the context of practice improvement and reflective practice.
