Overview
The role involves the installation and maintenance of traffic signals across the North East of England, and assisting in the delivery of specific projects. You must have a methodical and accurate approach to work, with flexibility to deliver services to programme which will involve working unsociable hours in inclement weather. You will also be expected to undertake traffic management associated with highway functions and to use and interpret plans and drawings. You will be responsible for the identification of underground services during the execution of your duties when carrying out maintenance works. You will be supporting and advising colleagues and apprentices whilst complying with Newcastle City Council's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
* Install and maintain traffic signals across the North East of England and assist in the delivery of specific projects.
* Work in a methodical and accurate way with the flexibility to meet programme requirements, including working unsociable hours in inclement weather.
* Undertake traffic management associated with highway functions and read/interprete plans and drawings.
* Identify underground services during maintenance works.
* Support and advise colleagues and apprentices while complying with Newcastle City Council policies and procedures.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience of working in a civil engineering environment and Highway / Traffic Signals Maintenance.
* Knowledge of construction-related health and safety issues to support the delivery of environmental improvement schemes on the highway network across the city.
* Ability to read detailed plans to carry out work to specification.
* Commitment to ensuring the safety of staff, residents and visitors to the city.
