Practice Bookkeeper – Tunbridge Wells

Reed Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a well-established and growing accountancy practice in Tunbridge Wells in their search for an experienced Practice Bookkeeper. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice environment who is looking for a long-term role with stability, variety, and progression.
About the Role
You will be responsible for managing an allocated portfolio of clients, delivering accurate bookkeeping, VAT, and management accounts services. You’ll work closely with the wider team to support clients across a range of sectors, ensuring timely and compliant financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
* Preparing VAT returns and submitting them in line with HMRC deadlines
* Posting journals, accruals, and prepayments
* Bank reconciliations, sales/purchase ledger maintenance, and overall financial housekeeping
* Assisting with the preparation of management accounts
* Liaising with clients to obtain information, resolve queries, and provide support
* Using cloud accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
* Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal procedures
About You
* Previous experience working in an accountancy practice is essential
* Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge
* Confident with cloud accounting software (Xero experience highly advantageous)
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships
* High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
* AAT qualification (Level 3 or Level 4) is desirable but not essential
