The SMR Commercial Manager plays a pivotal role in driving commercial performance and operational decision-making within RAC’s Service, Maintenance, and Repairs (SMR) division. Reporting to the SMR Commercial Director and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, this role is responsible for delivering accurate, data-driven insights that influence tactical and strategic outcomes.
You'll operate on a flexible hybrid model out of our Bristol or Midlands offices.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver timely, actionable analysis to support commercial and operational decisions.
* Investigate and explain margin, revenue, and conversion movements, using data to identify root causes and formulate corrective plans.
* Conduct analysis across key metrics including profitability & pricing, job cancellations, productivity, repair mix, and channel mix.
* Support weekly trading decisions with fast-turnaround insights and scenario modelling.
* Develop and test hypotheses to improve commercial outcomes.
* Collaborate with the SMR Data Team to evolve ad hoc analysis into scalable KPIs.
* Prepare and present weekly reports for senior stakeholders, ensuring clarity and commercial relevance.
* Support pricing strategies for new commercial agreements and product offerings.
* Own and maintain SMR business KPIs and ensure consistency in their definitions.
* Facilitate weekly trade process working across channel and operational owners to ensure the overall trade outlook is commercially and operationally sound.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong commercial mindset with a deep understanding of margins, pricing, and trade levers.
* Highly analytical and grounded in fact, with the ability to think critically and independently.
* Proven ability to solve complex problems using data and structured thinking.
* Comfortable making quick, tactical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficient in Excel, with the ability to manipulate and interpret large datasets.
* Confident communicator, capable of managing senior stakeholder conversations and presenting insights clearly.
* Resilient, adaptable, and self-motivated with a dynamic, positive attitude.
* Financial background advantageous but not essential.
