About the Role

At Weston Green School, we believe that great teaching starts with great people.

We are seeking to appoint a talented and committed Class Teacher to join our team for a one-year contract, working three days per week. While strong classroom practice and subject knowledge are important, we place equal value on character: kindness, curiosity, integrity, and a genuine commitment to children.

Key Responsibilities

Pastoral Care

5. Take responsibility for the safety, education and social development of each pupil
6. Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils in line with school policies
7. Provide a strong role model, demonstrating kindness, empathy and integrity
8. Create a safe, secure and well-organised environment where pupils feel valued and confident
9. Build and maintain positive relationships with parents

Planning, Teaching and Classroom Management

10. Plan and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum in line with the school’s high expectations
11. Be accountable for the attainment, progress and outcomes of pupils
12. Set clear learning objectives and provide engaging, well-structured lessons
13. Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all learners
14. Foster a positive learning environment rooted in mutual respect and high expectations
15. Use a range of teaching strategies and assessment methods to support progress
16. Work effectively with teaching assistants and specialist staff
17. Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom organisation

Curriculum Development

18. Take responsibility for a subject area (as appropriate) and contribute to its development
19. Support whole-school evaluation, planning and improvement

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording and Reporting

20. Mark and assess pupils’ work regularly, providing clear feedback and next steps
21. Monitor progress and maintain accurate records
22. Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupils’ progress and wellbeing
23. Contribute to whole-school assessment processes and reporting

Professional Responsibilities

24. Promote the school’s aims, ethos and values at all times
25. Contribute positively to the culture and wider life of the school
26. Work collaboratively with colleagues, demonstrating openness and professionalism
27. Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice
28. Participate in meetings, school events, trips and extra-curricular activities as required
29. Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality
