Prospero Teaching is seeking passionate, proactive, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants with a military background to support pupils with SEMH who have been excluded from mainstream education. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and make a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress, and development.
About the Setting:
* The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Hartlepool.
* The school supports pupils across the secondary school age range, with opportunities to support all year groups depending on your preference and specialism.
* The school has an outstanding supportive culture and leadership team, where staff work collaboratively within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.
Pay, Hours, and Contract:
* Contract – Full-time until the end of the academic year in July 2026. Temporary contract.
* Start date – ASAP or September 2025.
About the Role:
* Ideal for individuals with military experience due to transferable skills.
* Supporting pupils who have been temporarily excluded from mainstream school, some displaying challenging behavior and SEMH needs.
* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
* Building rapport and positive relationships to engage pupils with learning.
* Collaborating with colleagues to understand and cater to different pupils' needs and learning styles.
Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements:
* Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare qualification (desired).
* Experience working with children in UK schools.
* Experience in an SEN school or PRU setting (desired).
* Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
* Resilient, proactive, and positive attitude.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the update service or willingness to obtain one.
* Two professional references covering the last two years.
