We are seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the `Energy and Power Research Group' for a 6-month appointment on the `SATPaSS' project; 'Suitability Assessment of Type Testing Procedures against SF6 -Free Switchgear'. This project is conducted in partnership with `National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET)', funded under the `Network Innovation Allowance (NIA)', and aims to assess the implications of switching arcs on the operation and maintenance of SF6-free switchgear assets, particularly those using C4-FN gas mixtures. The PDRA will contribute mainly to `Work Package 3 (WP3)', which focuses on: - Investigating partial discharge (PD) activity before and after arcing using a simplified arcing device. - Proposing methods for online monitoring of active gas species. - Assessing risks posed by gas mixture composition changes and by-products to switchgear components. If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30.
