Overview
The Head of Service is a senior, pivotal role within the Primary Care, Community Services and Complex and Long-Term Care Division. The post holder will lead and deliver a strategic and operational portfolio which provides high quality, patient-centred services.
Responsibilities
* Direct, lead and motivate the Complex and Long-Term Care team to deliver planning and development of local service provision, aligned to the Health Board's business and strategic priorities; includes coaching, resource planning, performance management and team development.
* Ensure the Health Board's aims and objectives are clearly communicated to staff and that the Division contributes proactively to the strategic and operational plan.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence; empower team members to perform to high standards and innovate.
* Support leadership development across Team Leaders and manage the workforce in line with employment policies and practices.
* Ensure statutory, mandatory and legal obligations are adhered to.
* With the Workforce & OD team, develop and implement effective recruitment and retention strategies for the division.

Person Specification
* Educated to Masters Degree level or equivalent level of work experience
* Experience of planning and implementing long-term strategy
* Extensive experience, working at a senior level in a complex health organisation
* Previous senior management experience responsible for staff, multiple budgets and service planning and development
Desirable
* Knowledge of Complex and Long-Term Care
* Project/Programme Management qualification or Certification
