The opportunity:
Leonardo Electronics in the UK is undertaking a Digital Transformation Programme focused on Data Platforms, including Hybrid Cloud with an emphasis on Azure and OpenStack. Experience in deploying cloud-native data platforms on-premise and in the cloud is essential.
We seek an experienced Solution Architect with large-scale business transformation expertise. The role involves end-to-end project solution design, considering data integration, migration, analytics, and security. Familiarity with architecture standards like TOGAF, ArchiMate modeling, and Secure by Design frameworks within an Enterprise Architecture repository is required.
This role will serve as the lead Solution Architect for Data Technologies and their exploitation, operating remotely with travel as needed.
What you'll do as a Solution Architect:
* Provide leadership across multiple programs and projects, guiding a team of architects from internal and external sources, ensuring architecture adherence to Leonardo's policies and standards.
* Establish a Solution Architecture Board to review and approve architectural designs and decisions.
* Develop and maintain the Engineering and Manufacturing roadmap aligned with business strategies.
* Coordinate across the solution lifecycle to ensure design consistency and alignment with Target Business Architectures.
* Review architecture decisions, support governance processes, and produce architecture deliverables such as HLD, LLD, and solution blueprints.
* Assist project teams in reviewing requests, maintaining standards, and understanding architectural impacts.
* Enhance detail design coverage and assess technology impacts, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, data, and technology teams.
* Design system landscapes and integration patterns, ensuring security and deployment strategies are consistent.
* Lead virtual teams and manage resources effectively.
What we need from you:
* 5-7 years’ experience in Solution Architecture, with strong Azure expertise (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and proven migration experience.
* End-to-end data project experience, from requirements to support.
* Knowledge of modern data technologies like Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack.
* Experience in designing and managing project solutions, ETL pipelines, big data environments, and data programming languages.
* Understanding of secure by design principles and solution governance.
* Experience with data platforms, integration technologies, cloud platforms, and IoT.
