Job Description:

Job overview

It’s a great time to be a part of the Community Mental Health Team. We have recently transformed our services for Mental Health Together and Mental Health Together +, leading to improved and innovative services for our Service Users, Carers, and Staff.

If you are interested in becoming a lead healthcare professional focused on promoting recovery for individuals diagnosed with severe and enduring mental ill health, this role offers a rewarding opportunity. We provide comprehensive multidisciplinary services, working closely with local specialist mental health teams, tertiary service providers, primary care, statutory and non-statutory agencies, service users, and carers.

We seek a motivated and enthusiastic mental health nurse with a strong sense of initiative and excellent teamwork skills.

You will be based at Canterbury CMHT but may be required to travel to our other sites at Herne Bay & Ashford.

The post holder must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Main duties of the job

A Community Mental Health Nurse is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team, responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating care. The role involves communicating findings, influencing change, promoting health, patient safety, and experience. The nurse will be professionally accountable to the Executive Director of Nursing and operationally to the Matron / Clinical Service Manager.

Effective communication skills and self-governance are essential. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of high-level interventions and community assessment skills. Relevant qualifications or a willingness to undertake necessary training are expected.

Working for our organisation

Join us in the Garden of England, where we offer exceptional professional development opportunities and a high quality of life.

We are Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), providing mental health, learning disability, and specialist services to 1.8 million people across the county.

The Trust, rated Good overall by the CQC and Outstanding for care, employs 3,283 staff across 66 buildings in 33 locations, covering 1,450 square miles.

You will be joining friendly, passionate colleagues committed to providing excellent care to our service users and their loved ones. Our work environment fosters kindness and compassion, with everyone from cleaners and porters to leadership playing vital roles in delivering exemplary service.
