This is an exciting opportunity to join the Integrated Community Paediatric Services (ICPS) in the East of the county.

To contribute to a comprehensive, co-ordinated, high quality multidisciplinary team for children in Suffolk with neurodevelopmental disorders, with a particular focus on school-age children.

The post holder will contribute to service development and be involved in the assessment and diagnostic processes, including monitoring and, if qualified, prescribing medications.

The focus will be to provide specialist nursing expertise alongside community paediatricians, supporting children through the NDD pathway, running nurse-led clinics, and providing high-quality evidence-based practice to children and their families.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

1. Provide advice and support and manage a caseload of children with neurodiversity, developmental delay, and specific syndromes.
2. Actively contribute to service development for ASD and pathway reviews.
3. Steer the pathway strategically and work with the ADHD service.
4. Support in planning assessments for referrals into ICPS.
5. Carry out joint diagnostic assessments with the MDT for ASD and feedback to families.
6. Monitor and, if qualified, prescribe ADHD and sleep medications.
7. Liaise with other relevant services including GPs, the ADHD service, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Paediatricians, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychology, Health, Education, and Social Care.

Person Specification


Education and qualifications

* Additional training to master's equivalent level.
* Non-Medical prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards.


Experience and knowledge

* Professional clinical knowledge and experience of working with children who have neurodiversity.
* In-depth knowledge of key national strategies relevant to child development.
* Well-established knowledge of assessment tools.
* Experience of working with children with neurodiversity.
* Excellent knowledge of standards of record keeping & report writing.
* Excellent knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Experience of working with multidisciplinary colleagues and of working in partnership with parents and carers.
* Experience of developmental assessment in various settings.


Skills and abilities

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure complex child development issues are understood.
* Ability to organize and prioritize work and good time management skills.
* Demonstrate leadership and team working skills.
* Ability to contribute to service improvement and highlight areas needing change.
* Understanding of clinical governance principles.
* Ability to synthesize conflicting information to produce clear outcomes.

* Frequent travel required; must hold a valid driving license and have access to personal transport or meet mobility requirements through other means.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A Disclosure check will be required to check for previous criminal convictions.

£47,810 to £54,710 per year, pro-rata.
