This is a critical leadership role to ensure GSK's oncology strategy, resourcing and activities are aligned between the global Oncology Therapeutic Area organisation and the European countries. Medical will build and develop scientific expertise to provide greater insight for effective strategy and planning while driving a significant external presence to support strong engagement in the highly competitive Oncology space.
Responsibilities
* Accountable for Oncology related Medical Affairs Activities across the European region.
* Acts as the medical partner to the Regional Therapeutic Commercial Organisation and the voice of the region to the Global Medical Franchise/TA Head and R&D Therapeutic Head.
* Ensures the medical voice of the customer and market is deeply understood, synthesised into medical insights and clearly translated into appropriate actions to enable appropriate use of our medicines for patients in the region.
* Leads the development and execution of globally and commercially aligned medical plans for all medicines within the specific Therapeutic area/s. (S)he is accountable for medical plan development and strategic deployment of all medical resources to achieve joint objectives.
* Line management responsibility for Regional Medical Affairs Leaders including recruitment, hiring and development.
* Oversee Phase IIIb/IV clinical development plans in the region by providing a consolidated regional perspective into long‑term global clinical and value evidence strategies. Advocate for medical resources/data needed to support successful commercialization of products. Lead the scientific and external engagement strategy for the Oncology TA within the region.
* Enable a performance‑driven culture with clear metrics and business improvement embedded into the organization and be accountable for metrics to measure and communicate Therapeutic Medical Affairs activities to demonstrate the value and achievements.
* Be recognised as a trusted partner with commercial providing medical guidance and input and aligning and supporting promotional engagement strategy.
* Ensures Regional Therapeutic Medical uptake into multi‑channel media.
Qualifications
* PhD, PharmD or MD with experience leading oncology medical affairs teams at local and above country level.
* Strong medical affairs experience in the field of oncology/haematology, with significant product launch experience.
* Local country leadership experience commercialising new medicines.
* Above country leadership experience commercialising new medicines.
* Experience of drug development, safety, regulatory, market access and reimbursement requirements.
* Experience of developing and promoting talent.
* Experience of driving high‑performing teams.
* Experience of multi‑stakeholder management.
* Strong organisational, planning, and business acumen skills.
* Proven ability to interpret customer needs.
* Experience of working with new technology in the digital space / AI.
* Experience of delivering effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and scientific audiences using original or innovative techniques or style.
Preferred Qualifications
* Medical Oncologist / Hematologist.
* Global leadership experience.
