This role is accessible from Eaton, Congleton, Manchester, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Buxton, Leek, Northwich, Winsford, Sandbach, Crewe, Stockport and the surrounding areas.Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it's important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Operations Manager the Section (Quarry) Manager will manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on the site. Tarmac Eaton Hall is a Sand and Gravel operation which includes dredging, sand processing and drying. Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key. Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.As Section Manager (Quarry) you will also be responsible for:Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team to ensure business continuity and reduce business riskLeading change and continuous improvement initiatives, whilst maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reportsUnderstand different methods of winning and extracting raw materialKnowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry, including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniquesUnderstanding Quarry Regulations 1999 enabling a Reg 8 appointment (either C or D)All aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operationsMaintaining and implementing existing and new, Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the sameManaging and overseeing the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site's equipment fixed and mobile with responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and business partnersReporting and investigating any unsafe or hazardous working practicesIssuing of safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational teamManaging proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff and keep an up-to-date training matrixCollating and report on monthly performance KPI for your business unit for the Area Operations Managing and driving operational performance through KPI'sThe role of Section (Quarry) Manageris adays role Monday to Friday, but flexibility is key with the expectation to be available to meet with our plant's operational needs.A van is provided with the role.The Ideal CandidateTo be successful in the role of Section (Quarry) Manager you will ideally have experience and knowledge of:Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives TechnologySHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6Highly experienced in Quarrying OperationsIOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageousFull knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work SystemsWorking knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policiesStrong IT skills including a high level of competence with SAP and the Microsoft packages – Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to multitask and manage changeAt Tarmac, 'who you are' matters.
