Permanent, Full‑time (37.5 hours, Monday to Friday) Hybrid working - minimum 2 days per week in our Derby office, the rest working from home Up to £73,000 plus benefits About the role We’re looking for a newly qualified solicitor (or up to one year PQE - PQE is given as a guide only and applications from more senior candidates will be considered) to join our in‑house Legal team within a listed consumer financial services business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants hands‑on exposure to a broad range of legal matters in a regulated environment and who enjoys working closely with the business. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll be part of a supportive team where everyone pitches in. You’ll take a practical, solutions‑focused approach, supporting stakeholders across the organisation and taking real ownership of your work. No task is too small, and flexibility and curiosity are key. The role has a strong corporate and commercial focus (around 50%), alongside involvement in governance, regulatory matters, employment, property, procurement and litigation. Key responsibilities Corporate & Commercial (c. 50%) Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier, service and partnership contracts Supporting corporate transactions and strategic projects across the business Governance & Regulatory Assisting with corporate governance processes, including board and committee documentation as required Supporting compliance with regulatory obligations relevant to a listed consumer financial services business Additional legal support Assisting on employment matters in collaboration with HR and external advisers Supporting property matters, including lease documentation where needed Advising on procurement processes and reviewing supplier documentation Assisting with dispute and litigation management, including coordination with external counsel Undertaking legal research and preparing internal guidance and training materials About you Experience & qualifications Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or qualification pending) with up to one year PQE (PQE is given as a guide only and applications from more senior candidates will be considered). Candidates must have completed a traditional training contract with a recognised UK law firm, preferably within the Top 200 law firms. A strong academic background is required, including a minimum 2:1 degree, preferably from a Russell Group or other leading university.
