Graduate Crowd Flow Consultant
Join Buro Happold’s Analytics & Crowd Dynamics team to work on challenging, people‑centric projects worldwide. Your work will involve modelling, analysing and advising on how people move and behave in spaces such as airports, museums, theatres, workplaces, stadia, campuses and urban areas.
Responsibilities
* Develop static and dynamic crowd flow / people‑movement models for a diverse range of venues and city areas.
* Prepare technical reports and present findings and recommendations to architects, clients and stakeholders.
* Provide day‑to‑day design and management advice to support projects from inception to delivery.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—engineers, planners, security specialists, economists, and software developers—to integrate modelling insights into design solutions.
* Contribute fresh ideas during group meetings and help evolve modelling techniques and standards.
* Assist project managers in managing client expectations, conducting site observations and delivering project outcomes.
Qualifications
* Degree in transport, mathematics, economics, statistics, operational research, geography, physics, psychology, or engineering.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills with experience analysing data sets (ideally movement, spatial or related).
* Eagerness to learn and work collaboratively with a specialist team across multiple disciplines.
* Familiarity with crowd‑modelling packages (Legion, Pathfinder, Mass‑Motion, Viswalk, etc.) is helpful but not required.
* Ability to present and communicate technical concepts in an accessible manner.
* Experience with visual programming (e.g., Grasshopper 3D) and GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) is desirable.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
