Design Office Engineer
3 month contract - outside IR35

About the Role
We’re looking for someone who loves turning complex ideas into clear, structured, and accessible design practices. In this role, you’ll help shape and evolve our design approach so it works seamlessly across different teams and disciplines. You’ll be at the heart of connecting creative thinking with technical precision, making sure our design processes are easy to understand, consistent, and useful for everyone.
What you’ll be doing
Collaborate with engineering and specialist teams to make sure design processes align with technical requirements.
Work closely with senior design leadership to grow and refine our design framework.
Streamline and document design practices so they’re clear, consistent, and easy to follow.
Apply information architecture principles to organise design documentation for maximum usability.
Produce engaging visuals—like diagrams and flowcharts—that make complex concepts easier to digest.
Keep our design guides and reference materials up to date to support learning and onboarding.
Stay curious: review industry standards, research, and best practices to keep improving our framework.Qualifications and Experience:
Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Naval Architecture, Systems Engineering)
Strong understanding of product development and lifecycle
Exceptional written communication skills and attention to detail
Confident IT user and proficient with Atlassian tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira) and databases
Proactive, organised, and able to work independently
