The role exists to protect the corporate purse through robust stock control and logistics standards, enabling efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and consistent delivery to customers, while supporting the organisation’s People, ESG, procurement and sustainability commitments. Main Responsibilities: Ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the warehouse, maintaining high standards of health, safety and housekeeping to provide a safe working environment for colleagues, visitors and suppliers. Accurate receipt, storage and dispatch of materials, ensuring stock is available, controlled and delivered in line with operational and contractor requirements. Maintaining stock accuracy and ERP integrity, ensuring all inventory movements are correctly recorded and discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly. Supervising and supporting warehouse colleagues, providing clear direction, oversight and feedback to promote performance, engagement and retention. Supporting the Supply Chain Manager, contributing to the effective day to day running of the warehouse and escalation of operational risks or issues. Coordinating logistics and distribution activities, ensuring materials are issued, transported and delivered efficiently to support build and engineering schedules. Audit readiness and compliance, ensuring warehouse processes, documentation and controls always meet internal and external quality standards. Driving continuous improvement within warehouse operations, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, service and cost effectiveness. Meeting agreed operational KPIs, including health and safety performance, stock accuracy, service levels and overall warehouse efficiency. Key Activities: While duties and responsibilities will vary, they typically include: Warehouse Operations: Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring work is prioritised and completed efficiently Supervise the receiving, checking, storing and dispatching of materials in line with established protocols Carry out hands on warehouse duties, including manual handling, picking, packing and forklift operation Ensure materials are available, prepared and issued to meet engineering and build schedules Maintain high standards of housekeeping across all warehouse and storage areas Stock Control & Systems: Record all goods received, issued and returned accurately within the ERP system Monitor stock levels and investigate stock anomalies or discrepancies Identify and resolve discrepancies in deliveries and issued materials Carry out regular stock checks, cycle counts and support internal and external audits Maintain accurate warehouse data to support operational reporting and planning Health, Safety & Compliance: Apply, monitor and role model warehouse health and safety procedures on a daily basis Carry out risk assessments and ensure safe systems of work are followed Ensure safe use of warehouse equipment, including forklifts and manual handling practices Challenge and address unsafe behaviours or conditions promptly Maintain audit readiness and compliance with health and safety legislation & company standards Attend other sites as required to support site audits and compliance checks People Supervision & Support: Supervise and support warehouse colleagues in their daily operational activities Provide clear instruction, guidance and regular informal feedback Support induction and on the job training of new starters Promote positive behaviours, engagement, wellbeing and retention Escalate performance, conduct or welfare issues appropriately Logistics & Coordination: Coordinate the dispatch and delivery of materials to contractors and operational sites Liaise closely with engineers to confirm material requirements and delivery timings Work with outsourced and off site transport providers to book and track shipments Proactively communicate delivery issues, delays or shortages to relevant stakeholders Reporting, KPIs & Continuous Improvement: Provide regular updates and reports to the Supply Chain Manager Monitor operational KPIs including stock accuracy, health and safety, service levels and efficiency Identify inefficiencies in warehouse processes and suggest practical improvements Support the ongoing review and improvement of warehouse workflows and procedures Gather operational data and team feedback to drive continuous performance improvement. Essential Person Specification Knowledge: In depth knowledge of warehouse health and safety standards Knowledge of warehouse and logistics processes, including goods receipt, picking, packing and dispatch Knowledge of stock control principles and inventory management Knowledge of the telecommunications industry (desirable) Working knowledge of ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics (desirable) Skills/Attributes: Ability to maintain accurate stock records and inventory data Strong numerical and data handling skills Proficient use of Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook Ability to interpret operational data for reporting and planning Ability to supervise small teams within a warehouse environment Strong organisational and attention to detail skills Experience: Previous experience working in a warehousing or logistics environment for a minimum of 1 year Previous supervisory or people management experience (essential) Experience working in fast paced operational environments Experience meeting operational deadlines and service requirements Experience in one or more of the following areas: warehousing, logistics, procurement or planning Qualifications: Good level of education, including literacy and numeracy skills Forklift counterbalance licence (or willingness to train) Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH) or willingness to obtain (desirable) Circumstances: This role may be physically demanding at times and involve lifting or moving large or awkward packages. 37.5 hours per week, within core business hours of 07:00 – 19:00 This role may require some ad-hoc weekend/evening attending other sites such as carrying out site audits.
