Lead Van Driver – Full-Time Opportunity – Waltham Abbey - £35,000 per year - Permanet contract \n \nCentric Talent is currently seeking a Lead Van Driver for our esteemed client located in Waltham Abbey, a prominent provider of bathroom, kitchen, and plumbing supplies to retailers across the UK.\n \nWe are looking for a reliable and experienced Lead Driver to become part of our client Transport team. This position requires an individual with exceptional communication abilities, a proactive mindset, and the capacity to set a positive example. \n\nYour duties will include managing multi-drop deliveries, supervising the early-morning dispatch process, ensuring timely departures for drivers, and assisting the Transport Manager with daily operations.\n \nIf you are a motivated team player with experience driving 3.5-tonne vehicles and coordinating logistics in a dynamic environment, we would like to hear from you.\n \nKey Attributes \n\n- Strong experience in 3.5-tonne multi-drop delivery within the London Area \n- Excellent oral and written communication skills \n- A dependable team player with a proactive approach\n- Capable of leading others and maintaining composure under pressure\n- Flexible regarding route modifications and geographical areas\n \nPrimary Responsibilities:\n \nDriving & Deliveries\n- Execute daily multi-drop deliveries to customers within scheduled timeframes\n- Conduct pre-departure vehicle inspections following company protocols\n- Load and unload delivery trucks, including heavy items\n- Maintain accurate Proof of Delivery (POD) records using a PDA or manual methods\n- Communicate with route planners and line managers as required\n- Clean and refuel vehicles, completing end-of-day inspections and reports\n- Report any vehicle damage, missing items, or accidents immediately\n \nLead Driver Duties\n- Print loading lists for drivers and ensure accessibility\n- Monitor absences or lateness via office communication and take necessary actions (e.g., reassign drivers or escalate concerns)\n- Print collection notes for all delivery routes\n- Conduct handover discussions with the Night Supervisor to confirm order readiness and address any issues\n- Supervise driver check-ins and follow up on any delays or absences\n- Oversee loading processes to minimize delays and ensure proper van order\n- Document precise departure times for each driver (official dispatch log)\n\nSkills and Expereince \n\n- Valid UK driving license with no more than 6 points for minor offenses\n- Proven experience in 3.5-tonne multi-drop delivery driving\n- Ability to safely lift and manage heavy items\n- Experience with PDA or similar delivery tracking systems\n- Capacity to meet delivery targets in high-pressure situations\n \nHours & Pay \n- Monday to Friday with a 5:00 AM start, 50 hours per week\n- 23 days of annual leave, increasing to 25 days after 3 years\n- Annual salary of £35,000, paid monthly on the last day of each month
