About The Role
Are you passionate about ensuring safety and compliance in construction projects? DP World is looking for a dynamic H&S Assurance Manager to oversee the activities of Site Engineers and Construction Contractors. In this role, you'll ensure alignment with DP World’s stringent construction requirements and contract conditions. You'll collaborate closely with the DP World site Project Manager and other dedicated team members to drive project success. Join us and make a significant impact on our construction projects!
NOTE: This is a 24 month FTC. Based on site at DP World London Gateway in Stanford-le-Hope, Monday – Friday.
How will you contribute
* Ensure Project Consultant and Contractors have approved HSE plans in place and actively monitor compliance.
* Review HSE plans for gaps and recommend improvements.
* Sample and verify monitoring activities to ensure alignment with HSE plans.
* Conduct daily site inspections with HSE reps, focusing on high-risk activities and controls.
* Lead weekly high-risk inspections with DP World Project Management.
* Support timely monthly HSE reporting to project and DP World systems.
* Assist in accurate and prompt HSE performance reporting.
* Facilitate weekly HSE meetings and ensure minutes are recorded.
* Review incident investigations for adequacy and preventive actions.
* Track timely incident reporting and investigation approvals.
* Upload incidents to DP World systems and maintain local records.
* Report serious incidents per DP World emergency protocols.
* Ensure risk assessments are in place for all site activities.
* Maintain and monitor the HSE risk register with project teams.
* Lead regular risk review sessions to update mitigation measures.
* Promote a proactive HSE culture and continuous improvement.
* Oversee onboarding HSE processes and ensure inductions for all new personnel.
* Verify contractor training aligns with their HSE plans.
* Ensure emergency preparedness and crisis protocols are tested biannually.
* Review HSE communication programs (e.g., toolbox talks, safety shares, culture initiatives).
* Ensure KPIs are tracked and discussed in weekly HSE meetings.
* Confirm HSE roles and responsibilities are defined, communicated, and fulfilled.
* Ensure HSE arrangements are in place for project offices.
* Review contract documents to ensure suppliers meet HSE standards pre-onboarding.
* Evaluate HSE aspects of tender submissions and advise on contractor selection.
* Oversee return-to-work processes for injured contractors.
What you will bring
* Degree or certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH) or technical background with strong HSE training.
* Certified in project disciplines like project management, controls, or risk.
* Led HSE programs on major construction projects, including third-party oversight.
* Proven track record on large-scale projects.
* Skilled in navigating matrix and complex organizations.
* Experience with expansion projects interfacing with live operations.
* Strong grasp of project procedures and management plan delivery.
* Broad construction knowledge in terminals, logistics, and heavy industry.
* Team-oriented and collaborative.
* Reliable, detail-focused, and accountable.
* Culturally aware with global stakeholder experience.
* Analytical problem-solver with practical resolution skills.
* Highly organised and disciplined in follow-through and documentation.
