About
Join a pioneering startup using cutting-edge data technology to drive real-world impact on climate and infrastructure—where your code helps power the path to net zero.
Indeximate is a rapidly growing VC-backed startup focused on reducing barriers to net zero using the wealth of data obtained through fibre optic sensing. We permanently instrument subsea power cables to monitor electricity supplies and use this data to reduce cable failure risks.
Our data has numerous applications: environmental and weather monitoring, seabed mobility, marine mammal tracking, vessel detection, and more. A core goal is to deliver low-cost sensing as a service directly to users by liberating these measurements.
With proprietary IP in data compression and analytics, we seek a talented Software Engineer to help accelerate growth and realize this ambitious vision.
The Role
This role involves working on cloud software infrastructure to process uploaded data and convert it into actionable insights for clients. Responsibilities include implementing algorithms in Python on Google Cloud Platform, utilizing BigQuery and CloudRun.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Data Scientists and Software Engineers to process and store large datasets generated daily from worldwide assets efficiently.
Key Accountabilities
1. Data flow management and database optimization
2. Development of scalable cloud-based Python algorithms for cable health risk assessment
3. Development of system monitoring and alerting tools
4. Ensuring compliance with web security protocols
5. Testing algorithms against datasets
Your Experience & Qualifications
Applicants should be UK citizens with a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or similar, supported by at least three years of experience in a cloud computing environment, working with Python and large scientific datasets.
Applications from part-time and full-time candidates are welcome. The role involves occasional low-frequency travel.
Your Skills
We expect candidates to have strong cloud-based solution implementation skills, particularly with Google BigQuery. Additional desirable skills include:
* Proficiency in Python and data science computing
* Knowledge of cloud security protocols
* Ability to assess and adopt new technologies
* Self-motivation and team collaboration skills
* Rigorous testing and code quality focus
* Comfort with remote work
Salary and Benefits
Competitive salary (£60,000–£70,000 DOE), company shares, life insurance, 25 days holiday, remote work, fully covered travel, food, and drinks for team meet-ups.
