We’re supporting a growing organisation operating at the forefront of battery recycling and energy storage, playing a key role in extending battery life cycles and supporting the circular economy. Due to continued growth, they’re now looking to appoint a Battery & High Voltage Technician to support hands-on testing, balancing and discharge of battery systems.
This is a practical, workshop-based role suited to someone with strong electrical fundamentals and experience working with EV or battery systems in a safety-critical environment.
The Role
As a Battery & HV Technician, you’ll be responsible for the safe testing, balancing and discharge of battery modules and systems, alongside maintaining and improving test equipment and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
* Balancing battery modules in series and parallel configurations to ensure safe, controlled discharge
* Fabricating, modifying and maintaining battery test and discharge equipment
* Installing and working with high-voltage battery systems in line with design specifications and safety standards
* Carrying out preventative maintenance on battery cycling and discharge stations
* Diagnosing faults, performing repairs and supporting troubleshooting activities
* Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, inspections and fault reports
* Ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety and High Voltage safety regulations
* Contributing to continuous improvement of processes, equipment reliability and site safety
Essential:
* Hands-on experience with EV or battery systems
* Strong practical electrical knowledge and fault-finding ability
* Methodical approach with a strong focus on safety
Desirable:
* Electrical qualification (NVQ or equivalent)
* High Voltage certification (Level 3 or Level 4)
* IMI Level 4 training
* Experience in an EV technician, battery test or similar environment
