Job Overview
Full-time Specialist Doctor in Ophthalmology to deliver high-quality patient care and lead within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive clinical care to inpatients and outpatients, including Eye Casualty sessions.
* Deliver training and supervision to junior colleagues.
* Co‑operate with consultants to innovate service delivery.
* Maintain departmental vision in line with national and local policy.
* Engage in all aspects of ophthalmology patient pathways.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* MBBS/MRCS/FRCS or equivalent medical qualifications.
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC.
* Clinical research experience.
Knowledge
* Fellowship or equivalent experience.
* Proven clinical experience in ophthalmology with broad specialist exposure.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of NHS reformation, health and safety, clinical governance, and GIRFT.
Experience
* Minimum 12 years of medical work, with at least six years in ophthalmology at Specialty Doctor or closed SAS grades.
* Experience in presentations and/or publications.
Additional Information
Post subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Salary: £100,870 to £111,441 per year plus £149 HCA.
