An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 to join The Special Needs School Nursing service in Trafford. This is an exciting time to join our ever growing service to support CYP with complex health needs and specialists in SEND as we drive the service forward.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the ability to meet the needs of the patient group and will have experience in working independently and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.


Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for ensuring high quality evidence-based care is delivered to children. Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills and the ability to work effectively are essential to the job. To deliver training to partner agencies and deliver health promotion tailored to the SEND CYP

The service is committed to the continuing professional development of its staff, whilst supporting children's outcomes with a high level of patient/family satisfaction.

You must have a full driving license and be a car user to be able to support the service.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Sick Children's Nurse (RN (Child) / RSCN)
* Two years post registration experience.
* Preparation for Mentorship
* Evidence of post registration professional development.


Skills/knowledge and understanding

* Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the health and nursing needs of children and young people, including complex behavioural, social and emotional needs.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of current health promotion targets.
* Ability to work independently and as part of multi-disciplinary team.
* Knowledge of vulnerable children and young people and child protection issues.
* Experience of working with children with autistic spectrum conditions and complex behavioural difficulties.
* Knowledge of factors which increase disabled children's vulnerability.


Experience

* Experience of working with children and young people with complex medical needs, learning disabilities and complex behaviours.
* Experience of working with children and young people in community.


Other relevant criteria

* Car owner/driver Ability to work flexibly
