Control Engineer

The Controls Engineer will join an established engineering team and work closely with other departments (including project management, commercial, operations and field service) to lead the design, development and implementation of the company’s packaging solutions. The Controls Engineer will be focussed on ensuring optimum system performance and improved reliability, safety and efficiency across all company installations.
Responsibilities
* Effectively translate defined project requirements into effective and efficient controls solutions for conveyor systems and integrated packaging lines.
* Develop PLC and HMI logic aligned to system requirements and integration standards.
* Lead the preparation for system integration and provide startup support.
* Build effective working relationships with internal teams, contractors and OEM partners regarding controls and specific site needs.
* Actively participate in relevant project meetings with multidisciplinary colleagues.
* Diagnose and resolve automation, instrumentation and controls issues.
* Provide technical support when electrical or system integration issues arise.
* Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and application of latest best practice.

* Skilled at building effective relationships across multiple company departments.
* Clear communicator with a skill to effectively translate complex technical information.
* Meticulous eye for detail across multiple complex projects.
* Strong appetite to seek and apply performance improvements and identify practical solutions to unforeseen problems.
* Comfortable and effective working across multiple simultaneous projects and sites.
* Flexible to take on evolving responsibilities in response to company objectives and priorities.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
* 5-10 years experience designing and programming industrial control systems, ideally in automation or manufacturing environments.
* Working knowledge of PLC and HMI platforms and industrial communications networks inc Siemens and/or Rockwell
* Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
* Experience supporting systems through installation, startup and troubleshooting.
