Job Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational practitioner to take on an exciting opportunity as Enhanced Therapeutic Observations and Care Facilitator. This post is funded for 22.5 hours per week until 31 March 2026. As such, it is essential that a successful applicant could be released quickly. Please do speak to line manager before applying.

The Post Holder Will Develop And Implement Opportunities To Improve The Care Offered To Patients Whose Behaviours Can Result In Additional Challenges To Ensure Safe, High-quality Care. Aligned To The NHSE Enhanced Therapeutic Observations And Care (ETOC) Workstream, This Will Involve 4 Key Pillars

* Leadership and Oversight (Effective governance, data management and policy making)
* Person Centred Care (Identifying needs, monitoring and stepdown process)
* Education and Training (Ensuring staff are trained in ETO practices)
* Workforce planning (Efficient deployment and resource management)

Working in partnership with a Matron and Divisional Director of Nursing, this post holder will provide key support and leadership to develop the current provision of Enhanced Care, to re-focus on provision of high-quality outcomes for patients requiring additional resource to maintain safety. A particular focus of this post will be to work with the practice development team to support the re-design and delivery of Trust wide education and training.

Main duties of the job

This post holder will work with cross-divisional subject matter experts to consider the complexities of ETOC provision to varied patient cohorts represented across the Trust (e.g. degenerative cognitive impairment, traumatic brain injury, mental health and personality disorders).

Accountable to the NMSK Cluster 3 Matron (as NMSK lead for management of behaviours that make provision of care challenging) the post holder will support this Trust wide Quality Improvement Project (QIP).

Key performance indicators refined within the strategy developed will include (but not limited to):

* Staff experience and safety
* Patient experience and safety
* Development of quality indicators for provision of ETOC
* Supporting temporary staffing reduction in line with Trust / NHSE targets

Strategies will likely include a significant focus on embedding meaningful activity and toolkits for staff when providing ETOC to focus on engagement and management techniques to enhance patient care and utilise every opportunity to provide therapy. In turn, it is anticipated this will support de-escalation and management of physically aggressive behaviours to strengthen staff and patient safety.
