The role

Northstone Materials is one of the leading quarry, civil engineering and road contractors operating in Northern Ireland and Border Counties. We have been supplying the construction industry in Northern Ireland for over 60 years with our products and have a reputation for supplying products that are of the highest quality and value for money. Our team of professional drivers take pride in delivering high quality products and maintaining a well-managed fleet of vehicles.

We are currently recruiting for a HGV Driver to operate a Mixer, based from our Croaghan site in Coleraine.

Key Responsibilities

HGV drivers will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of materials to customers and internal sites. They operate a range of company vehicles- typically tippers, concrete mixers or block off loaders, depending on the needs of the business.

  • Safely operate HGV vehicles in accordance with Northstone Materials procedures and legal requirements;
  • Transport aggregates, asphalt, concrete, blocks or other materials between quarries, plants and customer locations;
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and maintain accurate records e.g tachograph, delivery notes, vehicle defect reports;
  • Follow all site safety rules and contribute to a strong safety culture across the wider organization;
  • Maintain good communication with dispatch, operational staff and customers;
  • Ensure loads are correctly secured and delivered on schedule;
  • Provide friendly but professional customer service at our delivery locations;
  • Report any issues, delays or incidents promptly to the Transport Coordinator or Manager;
  • Maintain cleanliness of their allocated vehicle and assist with basic upkeep.


About The Role

Requirements

Essential Criteria

· HGV Driving license – Class 2 minimum

· An Electronic Tachograph Card

· CPC Qualified

· Ability to work independently and manage their time effectively

· Good communication and customer-facing skills

· Reliable and punctual.

Desirable criteria

· Previous experience driving tippers, mixers or block offloaders

· Knowledge of the construction or quarrying industry

· Previous experience delivering asphalt, aggregates or ready-mix concrete;

Working hours

· Working hours: Monday- Friday

· Overtime paid after 48 hours worked at time and half.

· Will be expected to work occasional Saturdays.
