About The Role
We are currently recruiting a Senior Advocacy Project Worker to join our dynamic Mental Health and Addictions Services team on a permanent part-time basis (20 hours per week contract).
In this role, you will be at the heart of delivering Independent Advocacy to people navigating complex mental health and community wellbeing systems. Youll act as the key point of contact for advocacy services within your designated Health and Social Care Trust area, ensuring person-centred support is provided in both community and clinical settings.
Advocacy Support During
* Mental Health Review Tribunals
* Safeguarding investigations
* Serious Adverse Incident Reviews
* Capacity and Best Interest assessments
* Discharge and housing planning
* Promoting Quality Care (PQC) meetings
* Community mental health team meetings
You will support individuals as they transition between hospital and community settings, ensuring continuity of care and empowerment at every stage of recovery. Your work will promote rights-based, trauma-informed support and make a lasting difference to the lives of people accessing our services.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate local referrals and stakeholder engagement in your Trust area
* Deliver 1:1 and group advocacy in inpatient and community-based settings
* Support and guide junior staff and volunteers within the advocacy team
* Record and report data using Inspires case management systems
* Provide continuity of advocacy across transitions in care
* Promote service visibility through outreach, co-production and rights-based education
* Attend partnership meetings and contribute to quality improvement projects
* Embed innovation and inclusivity into everyday practice
What Youll Need
* A recognised professional qualification in Social Work, Nursing or Occupational Therapy (registered with relevant body) AND at least 2 years experience in health or social care OR
* QCF/NVQ Level 3 in a related field and at least 4 years experience in a social care setting
* Working knowledge of relevant NI legislation (Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Order, DoLS, Human Rights Act)
* Ability to independently manage a complex caseload
* Proven experience of effective, rights-based advocacy practice
* Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder liaison skills
* A full UK driving licence and access to a car (or alternative travel plan for those with disabilities)
* Experience supporting people with complex needs in both inpatient and community settings
* Experience of delivering group workshops and facilitating co-production
