Job Title: Senior Geotechnical EngineerLocation: BirminghamSalary: £45,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience)
The Role A well-established consultancy based in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to play a key role in delivering a diverse range of projects across infrastructure, commercial, and residential sectors.
This position offers a strong balance of technical delivery, project management, and team support. You'll take ownership of projects from early-stage ground investigation through to detailed design, while also mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the wider growth of the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing geotechnical projects from inception to completion
* Designing foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks solutions
* Producing and reviewing interpretative geotechnical reports
* Overseeing and specifying ground investigations
* Carrying out geotechnical analysis (e.g. slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity)
* Acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
* Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
* Assisting with project planning, resourcing, and commercial aspects
Requirements
* Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related field
* 5-10+ years' UK consultancy experience
* Strong technical background in geotechnical design and analysis
* Proven experience managing projects and client relationships
* Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or Geological Society)
* Good understanding of UK standards, including Eurocodes
* Full UK driving licence
