Job Description
New Directions Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a KS3 pupil with complex needs at a secondary school in Southport.

About the Role
5. Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with complex needs, helping them to access learning and participate fully in school life.
6. Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to deliver personalised support and strategies.
7. Support the pupil in developing independence, communication, and social skills.
8. Assist with adapting resources, supporting learning tasks, and monitoring progress.
9. Help to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through consistent and supportive practice.
The Ideal Candidate
10. Experience working with children or young people with SEND, preferably in a school setting.
11. Strong understanding of supporting pupils with complex needs, including strategies for communication, behaviour, and sensory needs.
12. Patient, calm, and flexible approach, with a commitment to inclusion and equality.
13. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers and SEND staff.
14. Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service, if not already done.
15. Must have employment references covering the last 5 years.
