Head Chef Job Description Role type: Full-time, permanent
Reports to: Operations Director
Manages: Sous Chef, CDPs, Commis Chefs, Kitchen Porters
Role Overview We are seeking a strong, hands-on Head Chef to lead a quality-focused kitchen operation and deliver consistently high standards. You will take full ownership of food quality, service execution, team leadership, and kitchen controls, working closely with FOH to ensure an excellent guest experience.
Key Responsibilities Lead daily prep and service: pace, consistency, standards, and pass control
Set and maintain kitchen standards across mise en place, cleanliness, and organisation
Recruit, train, develop, and manage the brigade; build a positive, disciplined culture
Oversee ordering, stock control, GP, waste reduction, and supplier management
Ensure full compliance with HACCP, allergens, and food safety requirements
Manage rotas and labour planning with management to meet business needs
Drive continuous improvement: menu execution, specs, quality checks, and training
What Were Looking For Proven experience as a Head Chef (or exceptional Sous Chef ready to step up) in a fresh-food kitchen
Strong leadership presence, calm under pressure, and high standards
Strong commercial understanding (GP, stock, waste, labour)
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Solid knowledge of food safety and allergen compliance
Right to work in the UK
