Job Description:
The Joint Venture Accounting Advisor is responsible for managing the Joint Venture Accounting team, ensuring costs are accurately accounted for and charged to JV partners in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with the relevant JOAs (Joint Operating Agreements). The group acts as a key focal point for JV partners, handling billings, resolving queries, partner budget approval, etc. The individual will also manage reporting of Gross GBP costs to the COO and asset teams to provide an overview of operational performance.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Manage the Joint Venture Accounting Group to ensure accurate and timely reporting of results to the COO.
2. Oversee the month-end close process for the JV Accounting Group, ensuring timely delivery of month-end deliverables, including billings.
3. Provide accurate and timely information to Joint Venture Partners in line with JOA requirements.
4. Maintain JV master data in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud (S4HC).
5. Drive process standardization across the JV asset group using S4HC and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
6. Ensure controls are followed, and process documentation is regularly reviewed and updated.
7. Monitor receipt of cash from partners and follow up on late payments.
8. Support Field Managers and their teams in delivering the annual Work plan, budgets, and re-forecasts.
9. Coordinate with the Commercial team on changes to agreements, ensuring financial models are aligned with commercial terms.
10. Participate in Partner OCMs and TCMs, delivering finance messages and responding to queries.
11. Lead monthly presentations on production, opex, capex, free cash flow, and budget performance to asset teams.
12. Ensure compliance with Capital Governance policies and processes in JOAs.
13. Handle partner financial audits and minimize claims.
14. Review quarterly account reconciliations and AFEs for cost classification and approval.
15. Support the creation of PRT deliverables for tax reporting.
16. Assist in developing cost structures and validating WBS settlement rules.
17. Foster relationships with wider company teams including UK ERA, Tax, Treasury, Commercial, and Planning.
Professional Skills and Experiences
* Experience in upstream oil industry finance roles, with industry knowledge and financial best practices.
* Proficiency in SAP (preferably SAP S/4HANA) or similar ERP systems.
* Leadership skills with a track record of results and collaboration.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills with strategic insight capabilities.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to drive change and continuous improvement.
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; MBA or professional certification preferred.
Ability to work independently and adapt to change. Prior experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred. Additional qualifications in business administration or related fields are advantageous.
