Overview

In this role of Woman and Girls Lead you will be pivotal in ensuring that the organisation's contractual obligations and goals are achieved by collaborating with communities and partner organisations in the design and delivery of interventions. You will build connections and co‑produce with local communities and key partners, creating activities based on identified need to increase opportunities that are more social, suitable, self‑affirming and safe for women and girls. The role will support to connect and share learning across the system and use existing insight to help inform priorities/areas of need. The role will report to the Midlands Regional Lead for Partnerships and New Business Development and be supported and guided by a Steering Group of wider partners, working closely with TAWS West Midlands Delivery Manager and Research and Performance team. The role will work with the wider system to help build connections, share learning, and influence systems behaviour and support women and girls to mitigate barriers, feel confident and comfortable to participate in physical activity. To develop a universal offer that welcomes all women and girls in the city to participate in and celebrate physical activity in a way that is right for them and to overcome barriers to participation. The role will convene partnerships and engage with National Governing Bodies and other partners to raise awareness and visibility of the ’This Girl Can - With You’ campaign and the available toolkit. The role will attend Core City meetings, keeping updated with the This Girl Can campaign focus and ensuring there is alignment of existing and developing strategies linked to physical activity, and wellbeing with a focus on women and girls. Identify the needs, opportunities and gaps for women and girls to participate in and/or lead physical activity sessions and share with delivery and systems partners. The role will drive forward the steering group meetings to provide updates, share learning and co‑design plans. The role will connect women and girls to activities, opportunities and experiences including training, volunteering, and development opportunities. The role will develop a Steering Group—working with place‑based/strategic partners (BCC, Sport Birmingham) and Birmingham attendees of the IWG World Conference on Women and Sport, 2022 event (In Unity, United by 2022 Legacy Charity and Saheli Hub.). The role will provide initial secretariat function for the Steering Group. The role will support to develop with oversight from the Steering Group a series of Women's Leadership Events connected to up‑skilling / capacity building, convening partnerships, as well as bringing together leaders and networks to increase visibility and representation of women in physical activity. The role will support with the decision‑making for distribution of additional funding to be given to local groups. To plan, develop and deliver high‑quality programmes, projects and interventions and ensuring they are in line with the overall strategy and objectives of the organisation and that they meet contractual obligations. Keep abreast of new and emergent thinking across wellbeing, community development and tackling inequalities as well as innovation and leadership in field of work. Work closely with colleagues across TAWS to ensure that communities have access to other key programmes.


Qualifications

* Experience of working in partnership with multiple organisation in deliver a set of programme aims and objectives
* An ability to connect women and girls to activities, opportunities and experiences including training, volunteering, and development opportunities.
* Experience of delivering a series of Women's Leadership Events
* An ability to plan, develop and deliver high quality programmes, projects and interventions.
* An ability to work closely with colleagues across TAWS to ensure that communities have access to other key programmes.
* An experienced Project Lead with project management experience, including design and development, planning, resource allocation, time, budget and risk management and evaluation of impact and outcomes.
* Should have a good working knowledge of Birmingham landscape when it comes to physical activity and health inequalities and supporting women and girls to get physically active in a way that is suitable for them.
* Experience of working in community development and collaborating to deliver against programme objectives and to achieve their full potential.
* A leader with confidence and skill to influence and persuade others across multiple disciplines and systems.
* Experience of encouraging diverse communities to come together—building trust and participation.
* Experience of working with and building connections with a range of stakeholders across systems.
* An ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast paced and challenging environment and able to prioritise work under pressure and adapt to new models of working.
* Excellent communicator, track record of establishing and developing strong partnerships with external organisations including statutory, charity and voluntary.
