The Senior Platform Engineer will ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of our backend services and supporting infrastructure for Node.js applications. You will play a pivotal role in evolving how our TypeScript/Node.js services are deployed, observed, and scaled across Cloud and multiple regions. Collaborating closely with engineering, platform, and product teams, you will lead technical initiatives to enhance system resilience, observability, and delivery throughout the entire lifecycle—from development to production. What You’ll Do Optimise the performance of TypeScript/Node.js-based GraphQL services, identifying and resolving issues related to memory, latency, and throughput under high load Manage and evolve Kubernetes deployments using Helm, with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and efficient use of AWS resources Advance observability by integrating and standardising monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions (e.g., OpenTelemetry, AWS CloudWatch) Enhance caching and delivery strategies using in-memory stores (e.g., Redis) and edge delivery networks to improve performance and reliability Ensure seamless integration with ingress and networking layers, collaborating with platform teams to resolve constraints and optimise service behaviour Develop and maintain automated build and release pipelines using Docker, Jenkins, and infrastructure-as-code to support rapid, safe delivery Work collaboratively across engineering, infrastructure, and support teams to proactively identify issues and deliver improvements Provide technical leadership in debugging, performance tuning, and infrastructure design, mentoring team members and sharing best practices Contribute to the continuous improvement of the ott-sas-graphql codebase, infrastructure, and deployment processes What You’ll Bring Extensive experience with Node.js and TypeScript in production, especially for GraphQL APIs and monorepo environments Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm, including autoscaling, deployment strategies, and multi-region AWS operations Strong observability skills using metrics, logs, and tracing tools (OpenTelemetry, AWS CloudWatch, or similar) Experience designing and implementing caching strategies and working with CDNs to optimise service responsiveness Proficient with Docker and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar), with a focus on automation, reliability, and infrastructure-as-code Strong scripting and debugging skills in Bash and TypeScript Familiarity with AWS services and best practices for cloud-native deployments Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working in cross-functional teams and mentoring others Commitment to code quality, security, and continuous improvement within a collaborative, agile environment Team Overview Global Streaming Platform Global Streaming Platform team develop and supports market-leading video streaming services, underpinned by state-of-the-art engineering principles.
