We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Senior Project Officer who can take the lead to deliver our Nature Recovery ambitions for the region Wet Willow Wildlife is a new project in which Lancashire Wildlife Trust and The Conservation Volunteers will be working together to:
* Boost survival of wet willow species such as willow tit through creation of habitat corridors at a landscape scale,
* Involve people and improve skills through surveying and habitat conservation volunteering opportunities and
* Run a community engagement programme to connect more people with their local nature.
This project is funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency. The Species Survival Fund will help halt and reverse the decline in species abundance by preserving vital habitats. Wet Willow Wildlife aims to improve the network of wet willow habitat to facilitate the survival and aid the abundance of its many associated species, such as the red-listed Willow Tit. This will be done by undertaking targeted habitat creation, restoration and connecting works across the landscape of Greater Manchester and north- west Cheshire, boosting the connectivity of the wider habitat mosaic by creating four enhanced habitat corridors in Bolton, the Chat Moss area, Trafford and the Mersey Gateway area. Surveying through Citizen Science approaches is a key feature of the project, with data being mapped, analysed and used to create a blueprint for further wet willow nature networks. Running alongside the habitat delivery will be a wide-reaching community programme to encourage people to take part and become more engaged with their local wildlife. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and capable Senior Project Officer to join The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside to take a lead on the Wet Willow Wildlife project. We offer 28 days holidays plus bank holidays per annum, increasing with length of service. A friendly and flexible working environment with the chance to be a part of the largest nature conservation body in the area, working together to improve our region for nature as well as engaging and inspiring people to connect and take action for wildlife.[rm_search]2024-04-28 23:45:21;yes;Bolton;Lancashire Wildlife Trust;£20,680.00 per annum (Annual pay review pending April 2024);Further details including a full Job Description can be found on our website https://www.lancswt.org.uk/jobs/wet-willow-wildlife-senior-project-officer Please review the Job Description before you apply.
