The apprentice will join our friendly team at this busy yard. Completing all the normal daily yard duties. There are plenty of riding opportunities, but riding is not necessary for this role. We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated Apprentice with good communication skills who is looking to further their knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will work alongside our current team handling and caring for our horses. A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on.
Yard Duties will include:
Turning out and bringing in
Mucking out
Feeding, watering, and haying
Grooming
Clipping and trimming
Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
Bandaging
Tacking up
Lunging/long reining
Riding opportunities for suitable apprentice
Grooming at shows
Assisting with breaking of young horses

Within the role the successful candidate will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom and may progress to a Level 3 Senior Groom Apprenticeship.

Applicant must be confident in handling a wide variety of horses and should show this in their application

Desired qualifications
Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Equine.
Training
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards and a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship (16 months).
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
Future prospects
There is a possibility of progressing on to Level 3 Senior Equine Groom/ British Horse Society exams if a position is available.
Things to consider
There is no accommodation on site. Applicants should ideally have a driving licence or reliable access to transport as the business is in a rural location with no public transport.
There is no stabling for applicant’s own horse.
