SEN Teaching Assistant – Preverbal Autism Support (Waltham Forest)

We’re looking for passionate and reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist provision in Waltham Forest, supporting preverbal children with Autism (ASD) in a 1:2 model classroom.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team helping children develop communication, independence, and social skills through structured routines, sensory activities, and visual supports.
Requirements
1. Supporting non-verbal pupils 1:1 and 1:2 in a structured ASD setting
2. Using PECS, Makaton, or visual aids to support understanding
3. Helping pupils engage in sensory and play-based learning
4. Working closely with teachers and therapists to track progress
5. Maintaining calm, consistency, and clear boundaries throughout the day
What we’re looking for:
* Experience working with Autism, preferably preverbal or early years SEN
* Calm, patient, and proactive attitude
* Ability to follow structured routines and use initiative
* Reliability and commitment – the children need consistency
* Enhanced DBS (we can help with this if needed)
