Who are Fair Ways and what do we stand for?

Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering Fostering, Education, Residential and Family services and cares for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year. Fair Ways is a great place to work. We are a team. We care about each other and are all committed to making a change to the lives of everyone in our care. We will not apologise for calling our staff great, the best, or world-class. Our staff are at the core of our organisation and we celebrate them by shouting it from the rooftops!

Where and when do we need you?

Families will be referred to the Family Centres if there have been concerns identified around the safety of the children within their existing family unit. Once with us, the families will be continuously encouraged, assessed and guided through a 12 week stay where they are monitored 24/7 to encourage sustainable positive parenting changes. To support the recent growth and development of the service, we are looking for a Therapeutic Facilitator to join our team. This role will support the therapeutic needs of the families during the complexities of the assessment process, supported by the lead therapist on-site and a well-established assessment team helping the families develop skills for now and the future.

As a Therapeutic Facilitator With Fair Ways, You Will Deliver The Highest Standards Of Therapeutic Support To Our Children, Families And Vulnerable Adults Through

* Group Facilitation - You will provide group interventions with the families as part of their assessment whilst at the family centres. You will deliver specialised training, report writing as evidence towards the parenting assessment to include recommendations and findings supporting the assessment team for the family outcomes. You will be reflective in practice to include group supervisions and support the team of facilitators, giving guidance and constructive feedback.
* Specialised interventions - When required you will deliver specialist interventions in domestic abuse, healthy relationships, and positive parenting alongside the team of facilitators. This will create a clear, robust training system to help, develop and encourage new learning with our families, giving them every opportunity to 'break the cycle' from previous experiences.
* Attachment Observations – You will take a lead role in attachment observations alongside the Family Centre staff Team and utilise the models of Falberg to align with our assessments. You will use internal training resources to enable families to develop and make changes where needed. You will write child focused reports based on your observations and record them on the appropriate systems providing evidence to the assessment team.
* Trauma informed – You will provide trauma informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic and, where appropriate, intervention. To have good knowledge of the impact trauma has on parenting and children (as well as the adult) and be able to demonstrate this to the team.
* Professional Development - You will be actively involved in your own personal and professional development through engagement with regular line management and supervision from the leadership team at the RFCs. You will maintain good knowledge of current best practice and statutory regulations to ensure best levels of service delivery for you and those we care for.
* Risk Assessment – You will risk assess daily and be flexible in adapting practice to the needs of the families and guidance from cognitive/Psychological reports. To be able to add to and adapt the families risk assessments and safety plans as appropriate to support any ongoing needs and safety within the family centres.
* Therapeutic Sessions – You will have a high level of knowledge of grounding skills and emotional regulation techniques, to develop and undertake a detailed programme of groups and/or 1:1 work to deliver to the family’s core skills which can be utilised as part of their safety plans. You will demonstrate a range of experience and knowledge of different mental health conditions which may impact upon parenting and how this could impact on the child. You will be able to clearly demonstrate this knowledge and understanding, sharing and guiding with the team and families as required.
* Leadership and Oversight - When required you will deputise within the team in the absence of the Lead therapist, completing any additional check in sessions, advising on mental health and wellbeing needs of the families in the moment and further ensuring coping and grounding skills and techniques are delivered to the families and the family centre staff team when needed. This ensures constancy and oversight of the therapeutic needs supporting the assessment outcomes.

This role is offered at 25 HPW and would ideally be worked on a Mon/Wed/Fri but could be discussed for the right candidate. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways. Fair Ways are unable to provide VISA sponsorship for this role and all applicants will need to be able to provide evidence of right to work in the UK.
