What you'll be doing
As a Signalling Supervisor you will have the following accountabilities:
1. To manage site construction activities from design through to commissioning, taking ownership for the successful delivery of all signalling and small multi-discipline packages of work
2. Interface with the client on technical matters on behalf of the project manager
3. Optimise the use of materials and employees time to ensure high productivity and low unit costs
4. Identify any variations to Signalling work that may affect the contract, assisting with pricing and allocating time to them
5. To undertake signalling installation work as directed and to provide direction and leadership to Signalling Installers and Assistant Signalling Installers as required as far as is reasonably practicable safeguard the health, safety and welfare of employees under your responsibility by providing:
6. safe plant and equipment and safe systems of worksafe handling, storage and transport of work articles and substancesnecessary information, instruction, training and supervisiona safe place to work, with safe access and egressa safe working environment with adequate welfare facilities
7. Ensure a site diary is kept and site work records are returned to the Construction Manager
8. Carry out installation work to Signalling Installation Handbook (SIH) standards
9. Take responsibility for staff nominated as being under your control, including sub-contractors
10. Understanding of Signalling Installation Handbook, correct design drawings,
correct interpretation of drawings
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
11. Basic computer operating skills with knowledge of Microsoft Excel
and Word
12. Ability to drive
13. Use of Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT scanner)
14. Good communication skills
15. IRSE licence Signalling Installation Technician (1.2.220 v2)
16. SMTH & COSS or SWL
17. Valid PTS with AC/DC
18. Emergency first aid
19. Manual handling
20. Fire safety
21. COSHH Appreciation
22. Small tools
23. Working in confined spaces
24. Knowledge of railway signalling systems and sub-systems
25. Knowledge of appropriate industry standards relating to installation
work
26. Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environmental Regulations
27. Installation and Testing of various Points Operating Equipment
(HPSA, Clamp-lock, HW, Hy-drive etc)
Desirable
28. Awareness of principles of risk assessmentBasic knowledge of health, safety, quality & environmental standardsAwareness of internal auditing
