The Community Inpatient Unit provides short-term, bed‑based rehabilitation, re‑enablement, and recovery support for individuals following illness, injury, surgery, or significant health events. The service promotes independence, prevents unnecessary hospital admission or long‑term care placement, and supports timely hospital discharges. Care is delivered by multidisciplinary teams including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and care staff.

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Healthcare assistant to join the multidisciplinary team at Community Inpatient Unit (CIU) providing nursing and enablement services to patients within the rehab and recovery inpatient unit.
As a Health Care Assistant, you will be responsible for the delivery of personal and nutritional care for patients and an element of clinical care, undertaking observations, basic dressings, swabs, etc., expanding clinical skills over time. You will work with a team of recovery workers and be responsible for the coordination of direct care for a cohort of individuals, working under the Assistant Practitioner and nurses.
In return you will be part of a forward‑thinking MDT team and receive opportunities for further development, regular supervision and support.
Job responsibilities
The role involves providing direct patient care, monitoring health indicators, maintaining accurate records, communicating effectively with patients and the wider team, and upholding confidentiality and empathy in all interactions.
