About The Role Balfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution business is delivering some of the UK’s most ambitious energy infrastructure projects, driving decarbonisation and innovation at every turn. We are seeking a Risk Manager to join our Power T&D Innovation Team. In this role, you will provide specialist risk management expertise for the Power, Transmission and Distribution business, offering project teams analytical support, modelling, and reporting. Ensuring that risks are quantified, monitored, and communicated clearly to enable informed decision-making and foster a proactive risk culture. To work across a full portfolio of projects, contributing to continuous improvement in Risk Management practices. Supporting the ongoing rollout of the Group Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, ensuring that the business unit remains compliant and that Projects have the necessary skills and training to effectively manage risk What you'll be doing Support PTD business units, UK‑based SBUs and BUs in communicating, cascading and implementing the Group ERM Framework, including standards, processes, tools and operational risk reporting Develop and deliver PTD‑specific risk management training to upskill Work Winning and Delivery teams in line with Balfour Beatty and client requirements Facilitate and document risk workshops, reviews, and related governance activities for tenders and live projects Maintain and update risk registers across assigned projects, ensuring risks and opportunities are accurately recorded and monitored Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments (e.g., QCRA, QSRA) and provide cost and schedule risk modelling support using appropriate tools Prepare risk reports, dashboards, and insights to support decision‑making by project teams and senior leadership Advise on contingency planning, mitigation strategies, and opportunity management, supporting day‑to‑day risk management activities across projects Ensure compliance with Balfour Beatty and client‑specific risk management standards, processes, and reporting requirements, including contributing to Project Risk Management Plans (PRMPs) where required Support the Head of Project Controls with risk quantification, assurance, and governance activities Share risk insights across the project portfolio to promote consistency, best practice, and effective knowledge transfer Who we're looking for Professional certification such as Institute of Risk Management membership or APM Risk Practitioner (desirable) Degree in a relevant technical or management discipline, or equivalent professional experience Experience working in a dedicated Risk Management role within medium to large organisations. Strong understanding of risk and control processes and their application across complex business environments. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior management and stakeholders at all levels. QCRA / QSRA experience Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships across multiple stakeholder groups. Skilled in workshop facilitation and delivery of training sessions. Strong analytical capability, including experience developing and interpreting cost,schedule, and business risk models. Knowledge of risk management, project management, and project controls methodologies.
