Open-Ended (Permanent)
Full Time: 35 Hours per Week
The Opportunity
Ensure the day‑to‑day activities within a BVS animal facility are completed to the highest standards and assist in maintaining effective operation of the Facility. Provide training and support to BVS technicians.
Essential Qualifications and Attributes
* Relevant academic/vocational qualifications at HNC level and significant work experience at a senior grade in an animal facility (Desirable).
* Hold a Home Office Personal Licence.
* Proven ability to supervise and mentor staff.
* Proven ability to effectively and clearly communicate to a wide variety of staff and researchers at all levels.
* Demonstrable knowledge of IT systems including Word, Excel and databases.
* Ability to provide authoritative technical advice to management and other staff members.
* Registered Animal Technician (RAnTech) professional status.
* Experience in the maintenance of complex transgenic breeding programmes.
* Experience specifically with Tick@Lab Facility Management database.
* Experience working with immunocompromised colonies.
Desirable
* NACWO qualification.
* Experience in surgical techniques.
