Solihull Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency partnership committed to preventing and reducing youth crime and anti-social behaviour across the borough. The Solihull Youth Justice Service is passionate about improving outcomes for young people and victims of crime and due to significant investment into the Youth Justice Team, we have an opportunity for a Youth Justice Officer to join our team.
As a Youth Justice Officer you will play a key role in preventing and reducing youth crime and anti-social behaviour across the borough. This is an excellent opportunity for you to make a real difference to the lives of young people, families and victims. Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Youth Justice Service, community groups, voluntary sector and local government agencies, you will have a sound understanding of risk, needs, public protection and safety and wellbeing.
To be considered for this opportunity you will have a relevant professional qualification or degree (e.g. in Social Work, Probation Studies, Youth Justice Effective Practice, Youth and Community Work etc). You will also have:
* Experience of direct work with children, young people, families and the community
* Experience of carrying out assessments of need and risk of children and young people
* Knowledge of legislation, standards and requirements relating to youth justice
This is an essential car user post as the demands of the job make it operationally essential and there is a contractual requirement to make a suitable vehicle available to ensure the requirements of the job can be carried out effectively. Applicants must be able to drive, have a driving licence and be a car owner/have access to a suitable vehicle, however for disabled applicants, reasonable adjustments will be made where required.
