We have committed to being a net zero organisation by 2030. Defra Group Fleet Services is responsible for leading the fleet transition to net carbon zero. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of fleet specialists to support delivery of these ambitious fleet targets and drive tangible change. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to identify business needs, determine contract strategy, and lead tender processes including award of contracts. You will lead on relationships with key suppliers, managing contracts through the whole lifecycle, developing and monitoring KPIs, and working with suppliers to reduce environmental footprint, maintain a cost-effective fleet and ensure compliance with legal and health & safety responsibilities.
The team: Defra Group Fleet Services (DGFS) is a national team providing a collaborative fleet service across the Defra group and is part of the Strategy, Transformation & Assurance Directorate. The Contracts team develops contract requirements, determines and awards contracts, and manages supplier performance to ensure operational delivery of contracted services. The role reports to the Fleet Manager for Contracts.
Responsibilities
* Develop and manage contract requirements, determine and award the required contracts, and contract manage supplier performance to ensure operational delivery.
* Lead on supplier relationships and manage contracts across their lifecycle, including KPI development and monitoring.
* Collaborate with internal and external partners to understand needs, promote Environment Agency goals, and drive improvements in environmental outcomes and cost-effectiveness.
* Provide advice and guidance as an expert in fleet contracts, proposing solutions within policy and best practice guidelines.
* Contribute to policy development and monitor implementation at national/local levels in line with environmental targets.
* Develop systems for monitoring and reporting service delivery; interpret operational performance and advise senior management on implications and actions.
* Ensure suppliers deliver contract standards and compliance; leverage procurement processes within Defra (desirable).
* Maintain organization, self-starter attitude, and ability to work in a dispersed, flexible environment with occasional travel to EA offices and national meetings.
Experience / Skills
* Establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners to understand and influence activities and promote Environment Agency goals.
* Provide expert advice on fleet contracts and develop appropriate solutions within policy/best practice guidelines.
* Contribute to policy and process development and monitor effective implementation in the business.
* Develop and implement systems for monitoring and reporting on service delivery; assess performance and advise on actions.
* Experience or familiarity with Defra procurement processes is desirable.
* Well-organised and self-motivated.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
