We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in Somerset, who are recruiting for a Litigation Lawyer to join their growing team on a 3-month locum contract.
This is a 25-hour per week contract with an hourly rate of circa £60.00/hour (Umbrella).
Responsibilities include:
1. Managing caseloads and advising on litigation matters such as homelessness, housing disrepair, debt recovery, possession proceedings, injunctions (for property access and anti-social behaviour), traveller encampments, regulatory prosecutions, and judicial review proceedings.
2. Conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, legal documents, and providing case analysis.
3. Advising on education matters, particularly challenges related to SEND and EHC Assessments.
4. Negotiating settlements and exploring alternative dispute resolutions.
5. Providing guidance on licensing schemes and enforcement work.
6. Supervising and guiding junior members of the Litigation team.
Requirements:
* Experience in Local Government law.
Working hours: 25 hours per week.
