About the team..
The Systems Thinking Team Partnership works across Network Rail and the Industry, transforming the way in which services are delivered. We use a rapid and profound approach to enable teams, functions, and business areas to understand their challenges, designing and implementing more effective services. Our mission is to help the business and Industry improve. This role is an opportunity to be at the heart of a team who are striving with the business to deliver and embed vital systemic solutions to some of the biggest challenges.
Our largest programme, 21 st Century Maintenance, impacts Network Rail's entire national Maintenance organisation. Maintenance is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the network; it supports the operations and project teams by making sure every part of the infrastructure - such as signals and power supplies, or assets such as track and bridges - is maintained and in good working order. There are over 20,000 Maintenance staff, spread across 38 Delivery Units around the network.
The objective of the 21 st Century Maintenance programme is to develop Maintenance Delivery Units (MDUs) that are excelling in delivering the right work at the right time, with the right people and skills, and with the best facilities, where the full toolkit of technological solutions, leadership training, and optimal organisational structures can be deployed. MDUs will drive best practice, enabling Routes to become intelligent clients, shaping national programmes, and supporting services of the future.
