Application Support Engineer - Durham - £40,000 + Benefits.
We’re seeking a technically sharp and solutions-driven Application Support Engineer to join our team supporting a cloud-based telephony SaaS platform.
You’ll take ownership of supporting key Windows-based applications deployed in a cloud environment, helping ensure system uptime, performance, and a seamless customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide second-line support for business-critical Windows applications hosted in the cloud.
* Monitor application performance and respond to incidents with timely resolutions.
* Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to investigate and resolve issues.
* Manage deployments, patches, and configuration updates in line with change management practices.
* Work with technical logs and monitoring tools to proactively detect and resolve performance issues.
* Assist with supporting voice infrastructure and integrations where needed (e.g. SIP, PBX).
* Maintain detailed documentation for systems and procedures.
Required Skills & Experience
* Experience supporting and managing Windows-based applications in production environments.
* Familiarity with core networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, ports, firewalls).
* Hands-on with monitoring and diagnostics tools (e.g. Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to incident resolution.
* Strong communication and documentation skills.
Desirable Skills
* Understanding of SIP trunking, PBX systems, VoIP, or other telephony/voice technologies.
* Experience working with Azure resources (App Services, VMs, Azure AD) is a strong plus.
* Knowledge of scripting (e.g. PowerShell) to support automation or investigation tasks.
* Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident management tools.
